Violent behavior is the opposite of what we are trying to accomplish in these normal relationships. Violence thrives on fear and intimidation. It bolsters a weak sense of self at the expense of others, often hurting the most vulnerable ones among us. There are only two feelings in the universe: love and fear. We try to live our relationships out of love by fostering respect, compassion, kindness, forgiveness and understanding of mutual limitations. Violence comes from the fear side of life. It comes out of a fear of loss, a fear of no more options, and the fear of someone “bigger” making me even “smaller.” Which would you rather live out of: your love or your fear? Silly question. As humans we are in fear much of the time. We try to mask it, but it’s still there. Why else do we struggle and strive to compete and win? Just because it’s fun? Or, because we believe there is not enough to go around and we better get our share first? Isn’t it nice to come home from the rat race and feel safe, loved, and valued? Of course, you may not feel this way at home. Have you or your partner ever thrown something in anger? Put a fist through a wall? Shoved your partner? Threatened harm even though you never raised a finger? Ever filled your eyes with hate and loathing? Violence is so much more subtle than we realize. So many times I have heard a person (usually a male) tell me, “I didn’t touch her. I just punched the wall.” Here’s the point: The IMPLICATION of hitting a wall is that YOU COULD do the same thing to the other person’s face. Read that again because it’s slippery. Aggressors always try to explain away their implied violence by saying nothing actually happened. But something did actually happen. Someone was intimidated and threatened. And that is violence. And it is often the beginning of the overt violence that comes later. Violence doesn’t work for couples, or anyone else. I rarely meet a couple that didn’t get together with some hope for being loved and accepted as they are. This emotional intimacy requires vulnerability and openness. It can’t happen where any kind of intimidation exists. So, give it up. Watch out for it. Don’t put up with it. Get help. I watched a close friend this week come close to a lethal ending. I don’t want this for anyone else, least of all you, dear reader. It can happen, and it does. I wish for you to never have to be challenged by such violence, either subtly or overtly. Despite my persistence, I could not find anyone with those attributes. So I resorted to the internet. Again, the so called Gurus were all over the internet. I started to lose interest and patience. But just when I thought that I would give up, I went on searching again and again for that kind of mystical being that would lift me up. I wanted to find someone honest, willing to carry me on his wings and fly away as far as training was concerned. So I kept on looking and browsing the internet. One day, I was tired and hopeless. But before I gave up, I decided to give it one more try. At that point I came across a webpage that changed my life. Then I modeled my business to his successful business. I followed through my dreams and as a result I made money. I did not need to re-invent the wheel. In my case again, I looked for a successful and honest person as a mentor. This time is a lady. She is smarter than me I must say and very accomplished. I managed to start my down line people who will work under me. It is just a matter of time before I can experience the same joy I have experienced with my real estate investments. Some like Rice and some like potatoes. It certainly has its attributes. Its about value based management. RONA stands for Return On Net Assets. By Rachel Paxton Butterfly candle holders are easy to make and a great gift idea. The materials are very inexpensive, and you can use your imagination for a variety of designs. To get started, you will need: Materials: Small glass candle holders Butterfly wrapping paper Yellow tissue paper Decoupage Cuticle scissors Small paintbrush Damp paper towel You can buy whatever glass candle holders you like (or use some you already have laying around). I bought mine at Walmart for about $0.59. You could also find them at thrift stores or yard sales. I chose butterflies for my design, but you could choose whatever design you’d like–maybe keeping in mind the tastes of the person you’re making them for. You can cut out pictures from anywhere, including calendars, greeting cards, magazines. Thin paper decoupages best. After you have some pictures in mind, use cuticle scissors (the kind you cut your fingernails with) to cut out the pictures. These scissors work best on small pictures and cut rounder corners than regular scissors. If you’re not going to use the pictures right away, store them in ziploc bags. You can buy decoupage at any craft store. It is normally found with the glue. It allows you to permanently affix a picture to another object, giving the object an overall glossy effect. Make sure the glass you’re working with is clean. Tear a piece of tissue paper into small (approx. 1 inch) pieces. Using the paint brush, brush some decoupage on to the back of one of the pieces of tissue paper. Position the tissue paper on the glass and then brush some more decoupage on top of it. Continue gluing on pieces of tissue paper, overlapping at the edges, until the entire candle holder is covered (including the bottom–set the candle holder on its top to dry). Brush one last coat of decoupage over the entire candle holder. Use damp paper towel to wipe off any excess decoupage. After the decoupage has dried for about an hour (or more), position the butterflies (or other pictures) on top of the tissue paper. First brush some decoupage on the backs of the pictures and place them on the glass. Brush another coat of decoupage over the entire glass and set the candle holder on its top to dry again. After the decoupage has dried, add 2 or 3 more coats of decoupage after each coat has dried. That’s it! These candle holders are only limited by your imagination. Use different colors of tissue paper and a variety of pictures for different themes. You could make these with holiday themes, like for Christmas or Easter. They also make great birthday presents, hostess gifts, or party favors. They are very easy to make and you can make several of them at one time.
